We don't need to limit ourselves to things readily supported by NetBSD. It's a simple file system driver, not a mission to Mars. If we're absolutely convinced we need it, we write it. It might even be possible to get The NetBSD Foundation or someone else to sponsor straightforward-to-understand drivers which fit under the general scheme of using NetBSD as an embedded platform.
