The most convincing way is a *tested* implementation which shows how the process is *simplified*, i.e. how the number of steps/flags/toggles/etc. rubbish is *reduced* (or per minimum not increased).
I think you yourself quite well demonstrated how "this might work" is not very convincing ;)
