For some reason there are some links that imply ttyS0 is necessary, but I’ve over interpreted I think. https://forums.aws.amazon.com/thread.jspa?messageID=553638 (Add (or replace console=*) console=ttyS0 to kernel line) https://github.com/andsens/bootstrap-vz/issues/136 ("The console on HVM images needs to be set to ttyS0.” ) Extensive Googling hasn’t found anything to suggest that HVM system log is only serial. There must be some other reason I’m not seeing any EC2 system log output, I’ll keep looking. thanks as
