Libevent2 is ... poaaible. They've at least got IOCP working. The code's pretty grotty though. I'm honestly hoping https://github.com/joyent/liboio shapes up. Time will tell though. I agree that it's *probably* a problem we won't have to solve ourselves. Or entirely ourselves. We still need a friendly rust binding to it.
