I believe so. Here are my settings:

    xftRxvt.font: xft:Monospace:size=9
    xftRxvt.boldFont: xft:Monospace:bold:size=9

    xftXTerm.vt100.renderFont: true
    xftXTerm.vt100.faceName: Monospace
    xftXTerm.vt100.faceSize: 9

and I start them as:

    rxvt -name xftRxvt
    xterm -name xftXTerm

I find that if I use terminus, either with or without xft, then
the horizontal spacing is correct. I suspect there's
a difference between using a bitmapped font and a scalable font.
In my case Monospace maps to either Bitstream Vera Sans Mono or
DejaVu Sans Mono, I'm not sure which (and I don't think it
matters).

I use terminus in some configurations and I agree it's not
a problem there. But in this case I'd like to use a scalable
font with antialiasing.

Thanks,
Aron
