These are the lines for displaying Chinese chars in my .Xdefaults: URxvt.font:xft:Bitstream Vera Sans Mono-12,xft:WenQuanYi Bitmap Song-12 URxvt.boldFont:xft:Bitstream Vera Sans Mono-12:Bold,xft:WenQuanYi Bitmap Song-12 And these for Chinese input method: URxvt.preeditType:Root URxvt.inputMethod:ibus URxvt.imLocale:zh_CN.UTF-8 I don't recommend `on the spot' editing, as I found it slows down rxvt startup. > 2) > When I set "export TERM='rxvt-unicode-256color'" in .bashrc.
