Because there needs to be a reason to apply the patch. If there is no
reason in this case, but it breaks other cases, clearly it shouldn't be
applied.

Because negative lsp _will_ cause problems. If you really want these, you
can patch the source. it's free software after all.

There might be overall better solutions, but at the moment, what we have
is optimal.
