> Do you really want urxvt to manage your tabs?

Urxvt is scriptable using Perl, and urxvt supports tabs.
So I imagine that it's possible to use Perl to control urxvt's tabs.
If not, that's fine, too. The goal is more important than the tool.

However it works, I'd like to know how to:

- open a new urxvt terminal window, and
- create two or more tabs, each tab running a command (ls, vim, emacs, etc.)

That's it. All I want to do is: use Perl to open a window, create tabs,
and send a command to each tab.

Really simple. I don't know what makes this seem any less simple than it is.
I'm amazed that no one on the entire Web has done this successfully
and written it down anywhere.

Setting up your terminals is an everyday task. Automating that task
seems like a natural thought. If it's impossible for urxvt, that's okay.
I can already do this easily with my current setup, so if urvxt can't do it,
that's not the end of the world.

If it is possible, I'd like to know how to do it. One working example
would enlighten me and everyone else across the Web who have asked
this question, or might ask it in the future.
