: Hi. Are there any patches for devfs, so you don't need to use
: compatibility for old device names in devfsd ? I'm using
: 2.7.6.

devfsd is ...? On what OS?

: Or is there any way to use /dev/pts/ instead, like in XTerm ?

You can manually specify a pty/tty type in config.h
Find lines like PTYS_ARE_PTMX - define the type that's appropriate
and undefine the others. If you can tell us how to uniquely
autodetect the type you're using that would be much appreciated.
