I recently got a Blu Ray/Home Cinema system which includes a DLNA
client, but it refused to play any .mkv or even .avi over DLNA, but it
did work with a .mp4 I had from BBC iPlayer (downloaded with
get_iplayer). Most of the .mkvs do play correctly with my TV's DLNA
client, but it has problems with high quality 1080p and I was hoping the
new player might be able to play those. Both are the same make,
Panasonic.

I used avconv to convert a .mkv to .mp4 and the player was then able to
play the video, but there was no sound, so it looks like I also need to
transcode the audio from AC3 to M4A. I think my HTPC should be able to
manage that in terms of CPU power, but is there a way to get Rygel to do
this on the fly? I tried reading man rygel.conf but couldn't find the
information I need.
