We have several ways to get meta-data for your local media files.
- MediaExport is where we walk the filesystem ourselves and find out
what we can
- Tracker is where we use the contents of the tracker semantic
storage
to find out what we need.
The DIDL-Lite xml fragment associated to a media contains such
metadata:

Which part of the source code should I watch to understand how it is
produced?
That depends a bit on the Rygel version that you're trying to look at.
