Hi Nikhil,
I am also a beginner in RYU, but from my short experience ryu-manager
is definitely able to run as OF controller.
I used L2Switch example application from
http://osrg.github.com/ryu/doc/writing_ryu_app.html.
I copy/pasted this code into main.py and launched it in this way:
ryu-manager --ofp_listen_host 0.0.0.0 main.py
Now it's working as OF controller and listening on all interfaces on port 6633.
I tested it with Mininet tutorial as a replacement for NOX Controller
(http://www.openflow.org/wk/index.php/OpenFlow_Tutorial#Create_Learning_Switch).
Guys, please correct me if I am wrong.
