At low densities you can buy a more functional intel I350-T4 NIC for less than $100, which sure needs a PC attached (but not involved in forwarding if you're just using the ACL tables), but which supports gigabit and real jumbo frames. If it were of higher density you could make the argument, but 4 ports is not sufficiently useful to get past the extreme limitations. -- Nick
