You can use EventOFPSwitchFeatures to verify the support capabilities.
For exemple, if your Switch can't return statistics of ports your
controller can not request port statistics(if you resquest it you
receive an error).
You can check the switchs capabilities returned in documentation.
Other use of EventOFPSwitchFeatures is store Datapath and get list of
OpenFlow ports.
