ubuntu 14.04 is 4 years old. The installation is a bit tricky. The ubuntu distribution contains some outdated packages such as python-pip and python-six. You'll need to install pip yourself (not from the ubuntu package) and remove some python-* packages and reinstall newer versions using pip.
