For me personally POP3 misses only fewest options, one being synchronised message deletion (you can flag deletion, but it won't be honoured unless you quit the session in a sane way, which is a pain if you download and delete hundred messages after which the connection breaks, since you have to download them all again). But my use cases are overly simple. Regarding S-nail it can't be helped. It's all my fault, i should not have tried to maintain and "improve", but instead have cut it down to the core at very first. It will be hard enough to come back with at least SMTP and POP3.
