So i went ahead a bit.  "~<!cat" would already do what you want,
but yet didn't give any status, which i have changed.  Also,
i have added new "-" and "- HERE-delimiter" modes to ~< aka ~r aka
~R, so that you will have several different opportunities to
choose from:
