Umm, Marty;

No, the gondola covers Ron made were not welded on and did not have hatches. I saw 
some samples at the August New Haven, CT train show. The prototype is three parts of a 
diagonal panel roof that are lifted off by crane to allow access to the metal coils 
carried underneath. Athearn has had similar covers for it's too-short HO mill gon 
model for years. I don't know of any prototype 52 ft gon covers with hatches - without 
bottom hoppers, how would you unload such a car?
