Group,
Ok, I'll start this out. While I am a newcomer to S scale standard gauge, I've been around the hobby for a while. The majority of my work has been in the narrow gauge world, in On3 and Sn3. Some of you have even purchased some of the kits I use to produce in S under the Design-Tech name. Most of them were cast resin structure kits but we also did a number of On30 and On3 freight cars. But enough of that. Even though I really enjoy the narrow gauge, it's really the Santa Fe that has always held my interest. I finally have a room large enough to have a small to medium sized layout and S scale fits my needs exactly. The room is almost finished and benchwork could begin very soon. After reconsidering for the umpteenth time what scale/gauge I would build this masterpiece in, I decided to look at S. I was aware of some of the products offered, but hadn't really given it a hard look. I know I'm preaching to the choir but the size and level of detail possible really helped sway my thinking. After picking up a SHS SW-1 and some SHS and PRS cars, I'm hooked! I'm converting them to Proto:64 and I'm off to the races. Thanks for listening and hopefully I can contribute to the group, if not the hobby with some more kits that we all could use.
