I sort of look at S scale like being the owner of a VW beetle in 1950.
Whenever you'd see another beetle, you'd both pull over to the side of
the road and chat about your cars. You'd have nothing else in common and
it didn't matter.  Sort of like being in S scale these days.  A minority
group that is avid about their choice and willing to set aside most all
differences for the common good.  Or something like that.  Of course,
beetles eventually became so popular that their owners stopped stopping
to chat.  Now if S grows and becomes like HO, I wonder if our friendly
open ways might change.
