This is reinforced by records of the Toledo & Ohio Central/Kanawah & 
Michigan/Zanesville & Western and their extensive gondola fleets which were 
used for coal (I have some postcard photos of gons full of coal at the Toledo, 
Ohio docks - there are also photos of gons filled with coal in the online 
Library of Congress archives (I don't have the exact URL handy).  After NYC 
control, hoppers began to be used more extensively (the four NYC panel side 
hoppers available from SHS were rebuilt from T&OC hoppers).
