Paul:

You will find that the AM car is quite similiar to a number of B&O cars.
Classes W-7 to W-10 were built at various times from 1947 to 1964. All are
close
to the AM in general appearance although details vary some and the 1964 built
W-10 cars are slightly larger. The B&O lettering that AM offers is not bad
but it unfortunately has the style where the ampersand (& sign) in the large
lettering is the same height as the letters B O. This style was only used by
the B&O for a very short time and on the great majority of cars the ampersand
used with the large B&O lettering was about 2/3 the height of the letters.
Even
most decal sets have this uncommon style for some reason.

The AM quad hoppers are also useable as B&O cars. The outside ribbed car can
be used to make B&O class W-1b cars while the offset side quad cars make up a
reasonable class W-2 and W-2a cars. Using these cars along with the AM twin
offset side hopper and the S Helper USRA hopper gives an excellent
representation of B&O coal trains from the 40's until the 60's.

The W1 & W2 cars were gone by the end of the 60's. The triple hoppers lasted
into the late 70's with a few of the 1964 cars even making it into the early
80's.
