Hi Bud-

I have 2 Regal kits & I plan to build one as an Erie car. I found a diagram
that shows the exterior width to be 8' 6 1/8" and the interior width looks to
be 7' 9". I could build the other as an NYC gon. What is the width for the
NYC mill gon?

Thanks.

Stan,
The Regal 65' mill gon was one of the first S scale kits I ever built
back in the mid 60's. I built mine as the NYC car. I didn't use enough
sanding sealer on it and didn't apply the decals on a glossy surface so it
was crude. One glaring error in the car's construction which I didn't realize
at the time was that it is too wide. The long gons....65 footers anyways were
quite a bit narrower than their 52' brethren to enable negotiating tight
curves in the steel mill confines. You might want to consider this if you
decide to build it. I have the Newton Gregg Car buildr's edition on gons if
you need interior widths, I'll look it up.
