Hi John, In general you can try to remove lettering with chemicals
or mechanically, I've had cars where alcohol or other solvent would
remove the lettering but most times I find it easier to sand it off.
First try an erasure, a good draftsmans erasure for removing ink from
mylar drawings will work on most cars. The fine wet sandpaper method
is the next step up in grit power. I use about 600 grit, cut a strip
as wide as the letters and wrap it over the end of a small flat stick,
wet the area and sand carefully using an optivisor or other magnifying
method so you can see when you get thru the lettering without going
into the base paint. After it's done either gloss coat it or put a
drop of future on the area and re-decal. Since I weather my cars I
don't worry too much about a perfect match, if you are trying to model
a brand new car you will have to be very carefull with the sanding and
decaling....dave
