All -- As a companion piece to the current discussion of the NASG Pullmans --
Please be aware that only the Pullman Green cars match perfectly with the previously-produced American Models Pullman Green cars. The other three schemes differ: 1. The Tuscan Red cars have two thin stripes below the windows and one above. These stripes are very thin -- visually thinner than AM's earlier PRR cars. Also, the letterboard lettering is "Pullman," not "Pennsylvania." 2. The two-tone grey cars have their lettering and striping done in aluminum, rather than white as on earlier AM cars. Also, the wide light grey stripe (and its bordering aluminum stripes) do not extend over the doors. The letterboards say "Pullman" (representing the post-1947 pool scheme common across the USA) instead of "New York Central." 3. The green on the CNR cars is much darker (prototypically correct) than on the earlier AM CNR 70' cars. And the yellow striping is darker too. Our objective was to provide paint color and lettering as close to prototype as possible, rather than to match any specific scheme already "out there." If any of you would like the reverse scheme (dark grey window stripe, light grey carbody) favored by the UP and SP (the short-lived 1946 Pullman pool scheme), please tell me. If there is enough interest, I'll approach AM with the prospect of doing this scheme on the 12-1 and 10-1-2. Note that Howard's Trains (California) had AM do a special run of this scheme for the five 70-foot cars. Dick Karnes The poll results are in.......
