Hi,
Last year I took advantage of the special run by American Models on their PRR streamline K4. I finally have some track to run the thing and have found that, at least for me, it runs like crap. It has about a 50% chance of starting from a dead stop. Once it starts going it is often jerky and has no slow speed performance. The poor slow speed performance may be because it is new and needs to "break-in". Is this common to this model? I realize I've been spoiled by my SHS SW-1s but this is really bad. (to give AM credit, my GG1s operate very well.) One thing I looked at was the tender wheels. They were fairly dirty (which is odd for a new out-of-the-box model) and cleaning them up helped a little. What I am thinking is that AM uses that "gritty" grey metal for the wheels and that may be the problem. NWSL sells steel replacement wheels for the tender. I am sure they will look better, is there hope that they will operate better? Regards, kbt The poll results are in....... To REPLY to the list, use REPLY ALL, to reply to the sender, use REPLY.
