I'm just concluding a business trip here in Las Vegas, taking the red eye back to the North East tonight. I don't gamble either, but if you are out here you need to wander around the New York, New York casino a bit - probably the closest you'll get to walking around a good model railroad (sans trains, unfortunately). The shops and restaurants down stairs are in "compressed" city buildings; complete with weathering, details that show in the windows (although nobody could stand up in the upper stories), fire escapes, window air conditioners, manhole covers, hydrants, etc. One entrance is modelled on the GCT facade.
I didn't bring any modelling stuff, didn't want to take the chance on having to explain it to airport security. Have you ever had difficulty hat way?
