My 50-Watters are quiet, thus the power indicator light I spoke of
earlier, and that in spite of less-than-ideal storage and
temperature extremes as I moved around over the years. I had one
that was extremely noisy, but I took the cover off and found the
reason and cured it. It's been a long time ago, but it wasn't
anything hard to fix, maybe tightening a screw or two.

power my DCC layout at the present time. It has a low hum that is
easily tolerable. However, when I tried to use the same AF 350 watt
transformer ( I think it was an 18B ) that you spoke about, I heard
the very same loud hum. It was too disturbing to use. I do wish
there was a way to get rid of that hum.

The poll results are in....... To REPLY to the list, use REPLY ALL, to reply
to the sender, use REPLY. I do NOT know if this works on all e-mail software,
but it works on some of the most common ones. For those of you on DIGEST mode,
all REPLY messages go to the list.
