Big night for the DesPlaines Valley S-Gaugers this past Saturday. 2 guests and 10 regulars played trains and talked some nonsense.
The BIG attraction for the night were production models of RiverRaison's new Zephyr and Flying Yankee. What a treat!!! Magnificent craftsmanship throughout. Lights all over the place. Smooth running. Complete interior details with soft focus lighting. Needless to say Jim K. was walking around with a big smile all night. Sam gave a class in low temp soldering so we can finish our B.T.S. flats. Are 6 75 footers enough? Herb took Sam's new Pine Canyon Toxic Waste plant home to work his building magic. Sorry for you New Jersey guys on the loss of Herb but I have to say we're glad he's here in Chicago now. Maybe we'll be able to get some focus on structures to go along with all the rolling stock. Poor Chuck is having to add trackage to store all the cars and motive power that seems to be accumulating. Next week the Zephyr gets a decoder for more tests.
