Dear Chuck,
Ah yes, the junior Jan. I knew his father well and we used to visit
his family all the time. I remember when Jan jr. was just a boy. Real
smart and loved trolleys. He was always into "O" scale, but I liked him
just the same. He was working for PanAm as a designer, but they are
now gone the way of so many of my favorite railroads. I have not seen
him in a few years, but hope to in the near future. It was nice to see
his name. I hope he finds a home for these forgotten relics.
His father was the owner of "LocoMotive Workshop" and kept us S
scalers going during the dark years. I built many of his kits. He
passed away a few years ago after recovering from a stroke about a
decade before. Some of his clinics on modeling with brass were very
entertaining. He was a real S scale pioneer.
Best regards,
Don Thompson
