and he notes -

Quality Craft was started by Johnny Lieberman back in the early 60's,
making 0 and H0 kits. He made most, if not all of the wood parts in his own
shop. While attending the NESGA convention in Alexandria, Va. ('66 or '67,
memory escapes me) he became interested in S Gauge and made a deal with Bob
Blois (Kinsman) to distribute his kits through Bob's company. I believe the
first issue was the "Big John" hopper and later a CP coal hopper (could
have been the other way around). Later when Lieberman quit making S, Bob
took the kits over as part of his own line.

I can't recall whether there were more Quality Craft kits than just the two
hoppers, but when Blois took them over, Northeastern wood products would
have been used when the wood on hand ran out..

Ambroid was once a hobby shop in Boston and had a line of H0 cars produced
by Northeastern. They introduced kits in S Gauge after the War but not much
came of them. Another Boston hobby shop, Hobbytown (if I remember
correctly) took over the line and dumped S, whereby Northeastern produced
the kits as their own. When Bob started Kinsman, he used the Ambroid line
as the basis for his own line of cars and added to it over the years. Some
of them are still in Heimberger's catalog (which might also be a source for
some of the parts).

I seem to recall that Johnny Lieberman sold the Quality Craft line before
his death, but my memory... well it's getting a bit cloudy...

The poll results are in....... To REPLY to the list, use REPLY ALL, to reply
to the sender, use REPLY. I do NOT know if this works on all e-mail software,
but it works on some of the most common ones. For those of you on DIGEST mode,
all REPLY messages go to the list.
