Hi Alex, You can make a copy of the old QC bolsters from styrene
and avoid the wood grain problems, styrene will take screws just fine,
you can plane it with a sharp block plane just like wood.
They leave centerbeam flatcars at a lumber yard spur near my
house, in looking them over I've come to the conclusion that it would
be easiest to model them using brass shapes. They seem to be welded
from structural steel shapes, very lacey look to them that would be
hard to get with wood or plastic and still retain enough
strength......dave

but it works on some of the most common ones. For those of you on DIGEST mode,
all REPLY messages go to the list.
