Well, my batting average seems to be improving. After my "unpainted
snafu" on the OMI crane, I was beginning to wonder. Glad Chuck Porter's
memory is worse than mine or I'd really be concerned. At least I
haven't lost someone else's magazine -- yet! I guess it must have been
weathering juice I sprayed onto that crane instead of paint. Oh well,
better luck next time....

Yes, it would appear that the S scale NYC 19000-series caboose is
underway at Kaslo Shops Distributing. I've gotten about a half dozen
messages from folks who have sent in money and have receipts. So it
must be happening.

>To my knowledge, they are the tongue and grove version.

That is correct. See list below.

>Someone mentioned the plywood covered version being the Pacemaker
Caboose. <big snip>

Rather than go from a weak memory (my ususal practice), how about if I
copy this info directly from a book about the NYC caboosi:

NYC Standard Wood Caboose: 35' long over end sills, tongue &
groove. 19000-series.

Kaslo Shops.

NYC Short Standard Wood Caboose: 30'3" long, tongue & groove. Rebuilt
from LS&MS cabooses.
                                  18000-series.

NYC Converted Wood Caboose: 41'4-5/8" long, tongue & groove.
Rebuilt from box cars.
                                  Numbers 20100 to 20149.

NYC "Pacemaker" Wood Caboose: 41'4-5/8" long, plywood sheathing,
vermillion and grey,
                                  Numbers 20112, 20117, 20129, 20132,
20133.

NYC Steel Bay Window Caboose: 41'4" long, Numbers 20203 to 20297

                                              Numbers 1300 to 1304
(B&A).
                                              Imported by River Raisin,
both painted and
                                              unpainted. Mine was
unpainted (really!)

NYC Steel Transfer Caboose: 40'4" long.

Cheerfully...Ed L.
