As long as we're going down old weed grown memories, let me bring up a
gentlemen from Nova Scotia, Canada. who had a AF layout in an old bus.
I think he used to follow the carnival route during the summer. His
first name was Allen--think the last name started with a W.,--we were in
a circuit letter together. Wonder what happened to his setup?
Another thing that I recall, in my last year or two in high school,
the family took a vacation to the Black Hill's of my home state of South
Dakota to the tourist railroad called the '1880's train or the Black
Hill Central. In an adjoining building near the rail yards was a model
railroad setup of all AF trains ( and we're talking the later stuff
here--1964 perhaps) Gilbert had done the setup and a soon to be college
student was hired to run the layout. It was a very nice layout for this
little guy to view. Unfortunately, a couple of years later it was gone,
and so was Gilbert.! I've never heard any word about this, or similar
setups to this one, in any of the AF collector books or articles.
