Morning.. I came across a photo in the M&StL in Color book by Gene Green on page 14 dated 1956, and there is a photo of a tank car The La Salle & Bureau County Railroad #871, looks to be carrying an AB system, has a smaller than normal dome or manway, and it has the very high walkways around the car, not a frame just the walkway, like the narrow gauge tank cars had, with the side steps being a double step with braces back to the bottom of the walk ....interesting car for the times. Remember The La Salle and Bureau County Railroad from the 70's when Penn Central cars sort vanished on the property and reappeared with new reporting marks and numbers.
The old Athearn tank cars, the triple dome and the chemical cars made great small S tanks, add the S trucks and the couplers came out right.....The triple done was used for handling lube oils of different types, UTLX had some cars, some of the tank bodies showed up in work service on flat cars with a small cabinet for pumping equipment...KCS had one in company service marked STRM 201...STRM was for Store Room was used to move lube oil on the system, and had roller bearing trucks.....used to be a good way to get a $5 S Scale car, guess now it is a good way to get a $30 S scale car. gale hall [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] The poll results are in.......
