Good Afternoon,

The following prototype information about the NYC cars being offered
by Kaslo may be of interest to you if you are trying to decide if you
want to purchase any of the cars.

The Baggage/Dormitory car and the 56 Seat Coach are similar to cars
purchased by the following roads: ATSF, A&WP, CB&Q, C&EI, C&O, FEC,
L&N, M&StL, MP, PRR, RF&P, SAL and SR. Amtrak used NYC Budd coaches.

Not many roads purchased Kitchen-Full Dining Car combinations. Those
that did usually purchased the cars from PS. CN purchased several of
the NYC Budd 2-car combinations.

The 10RMT/6DB sleeper should be usable as a stand-in for the ATSF
Pine series (see MR 7/94 for drawings), PRR Florida cities series and
possibility other PRR 10/6s, SAL Florida cities series, SP 9000
series (see MR 6/89 for drawing) and UP's Pacific series (see MR 3/01
for article). Railway Prototype Cyclopedia #11 has an article on the
Budd 10/6s along with photos that might be of interest to you. Most
of the NYC 10/6s were sold to NdeM.

There has been several messages about the NYC 24SR/8DR
Sleeper/Slumber coach being used by a number of railroads, so I'm not
going to talk about that car. The other Sleepercoach being offered,
the 16SR/10DR version is strictly a NYC car. The NYC had Budd rebuild
10 of their 22RMT into the 16SR/10DR Sleepercoach. The only other
user of this car was Amtrak.

The NYC sold most of their 5DB/Buffet/Lounge/Observation cars to CP.
The KCS purchased 4 of NYC's Buffet/Lounge/Observation cars. While
not identical to the car that Kaslo is offering, it should be useable
as a stand-in. Many of the roads mentioned above also purchased
observation cars that are similar to the NYC version.

Given the above information it is up to you to research your favorite
road and see if any of the cars being offered are useable as stand-
ins.
