If you are looking for 50's tank cars, the Des Plaines model is good. Note these comments at http://trainweb.org/mhrr/ho-s-o/sprotos2.html "Not a bad representation of a pre-war General American car, except that it needs some modification to the body bolsters. Look at a 1937 CBC for reference. It would not be hard to modify the car to make it a post-war GA car. The manway hatch also needs some correction, which would not be too difficult."
