I obtained and used Cadrail7 to design my layout, based on a 
recomendation from Keith Thompson.  I also did a car plan with it.  The 
car plan worked out fine, and was easy to do.  Eventually, I was ablke 
to develop my layout plan with this program -- its supposed primary 
purpose.  But the learning curve for layout design is very steep and 
program usage is not what I'd call intuitive.  I don't recommend this 
program for layout design.
