I don't want sound difficult or that I am selling something (I have no connection to Sandia Software, the maker of CadRail*), but I assume, from the "when it first came out" comment, that Bob's views are based on the first version of CadRail. CadRail is currently on version 8.02 and though I never used version 1 (or what ever the initial version was numbered) I can say that the current CadRail is quite a powerful 2D CAD program. It is targeted for model railroaders by adding MR specific features like tools for turnout creation, easements as first class objects, and others. Since it is a CAD program I have used it to accurately design many things other than track diagrams and have even generated data files to run laser cutters. My only frustration with it has been that it runs on Windoze :) Now does a $99 CAD program do everything that a couple thousand dollar program does? No, of course not. But that does not mean it is not a real CAD program. Regards, kbt *Striving for full disclosure, I do 'own' the yahoo group for CadRail users. :) The poll results are in.......
