This last week I visited New York City for a few days. The trip was fun, I
rode two trains (trams) at the MSP airport and then took the train into the
city from Newerk. New York City is always interesting but even better was a
trip to New Brunswick and a visit to the S Helper Service Warehouse. I have
heard that getting there is half the fun and this was a fun trip down. I rode
the New Jersey transit from Penn Station in New York. Just after leaving Penn
Station in Newark while gaining speed, an Amtrack train pulled allong side and
started to pass us. As the Amtrack engine pulled along side the NJT engine,
the race began and we soon left the Amtrack train in the dust. Fortunately for
me Don and Robin were really busy when I visited so I wandered the warehouse
and looked for all sorts of neat things, they were easy to find. I am envious
of those of you who will be able to be there during their openhouse, that is
always a great time and I particularly enjoy visiting with all the other S
Scalers.
Anyway, here I am back in calm Minnesota enjoying the long weekend. Last
evening, I made a bon fire and sat by it reading until dark. The SOO Line (CP)
entertained me with a number of runby's so it was a relaxing way to start the
weekend.
I have heard from some friends in Iraq and one expecting another tour the end
of this year. It is encouraging to hear from these soldiers, the duty is
difficult but they are convinced that it is worth the attempt to help bring a
peaceful future to the people of the area. I cannot conceive of the hatred
that in in some people's hearts.
To all of you with friends or families serving or who have served in the
defense of freedom under the American or any other flag, my thanks. Take a
moment in your busy weekend and reflect on the sacrifices that are being made
for you and I every day.

Best Wishes,

Ken Ziesda
