Thanks Bill (and others who replied). It does help explain how some of those ancient Milwaukee Road rib sides were going back and forth between the 'Beer Line' (on the Milw. Rd.) and Jefferson Junction malt plants (on the C&NW). It was seeing those decrepit cars that started the interest in having a horizontal ribbed box car in S scale.
Were any of the B&O cars rebuilt or did that design pass from favor like the horizontal ribbed cars and the PRR inspired round roof design? Had another great train session at Chuck West's last night. Chuck continues to make major changes in the track layout and add interest and diversity to operations. We all just have to remember which is the correct switch to throw!
