What a wonderful Monday, relaxing seeing family and of course working on a few projects around the house (layout). The Pines and Prairies S Scale Workshop has been keeping busy this summer, we have a project going with some Woodland Scenic modules, and I am building a "Kid Friendly" dream layout so that I can let young visitors enjoy interacting with the model railroad, running trains and having fun no matter what their age. I really like having kids visit but I will admit that having them involved on my layout is a bit of a challenge. I know that it is as natural for kids to want to touch and be involved as it was when I was that age so I am going to build a layout to encourage that. Last Thursday, the PPSSW was over here and when they left I ended up with a really neat 0-8-0 on the layout. I would guess it belongs to someone but there is no name on the box. I am going to be gone this Thursday at the NMRA and the next Thursday at the Northern Pacific Historical Association Convention so my hope is that no one will miss it.
I have received some great e-mails from friends who are serving in Iraq. Though they face daily dangers and the sacrifice they are making in their lives makes any inconvienence I might put up with pale in comparison, they speak of their pride in doing something that may bring the hope for a better future to the people they are protecting. We tend to forget how wicked a man ruled Iraq for all those years and the long suffering of the people of Iraq. While we enjoy our day of liesure in the middle of a beautiful summer, let's all take a minute and thank the free men and women of every nation who are and have stood up to protect our freedom.
