Dear Tom:
I have visited Tom's photo album many times. Tom's switches
look gorgeous but they don't have an integral switch machine nor are
they 'drag and drop'. I can not just 'toss' a couple into a box, haul
them to my daughter's school, and reassemble a quick layout on the floor
of her classroom. (Or a bunch of tables at the mall.) I doubt Tom's
masterpieces can withstand being (gently) bashed by five-year-olds more
interested in wrecks than smooth running. American Flyer and S-Helper
track can take it.
I'm going to shut up now because I believe I am beating a dead
horse and everyone knows it but me!

However Tom's switches, especially the #6 double-slip, offer new options
for the modules I am currently designing.

Thorin

Hi Thorin,

you wrote: "If you want to sell full length passenger cars to the

switch MUST come first."

Have you looked at the Hi-rail #6 turnouts being offered by Tom's
Turnouts?

***AF compatible switch. (It could be S-Helper compatible instead.)
The requirements were 27 inches or more (#6 or #8 preferred),***

As long as the gauging of the track is S gauge, they are all
compatible...

I've heard that he is working on a #8 (in fact, the assembly fixtures
are done), you might want to check his web page
http://s-scale.org/albums/albun00

These Hi-rail turnouts even have the ability to run scale equipment and
yes, they are prototypical all metal, open frog.

Looks like the turnouts are available... :*)
