. . . . .I remind the e-group members of one of our own, who said on this
e-list that he tried the soaking method and got, well, putty.

A search of the messages in this group turns up the following:
On 19 August 2001 Mr Ted Larson stated, in pertinent part:
quote
Homabed: YES it can be thoroughly soaked. I'm going from memory here since I
don't have any Homabed on hand, so the following might not be exactly right,
BUT the Homa-Bed instruction sheet I once had said that if you need a curved
piece and have none of the bendable sections (with saw kerfs in them), soak
a straight section overnight, shake the water out, and bend it to your
desired curve, let it dry. I suspect that you need to wait to glue it down
until after it dries. I did it. It worked. I hope that someone can fill in
the details that are missing from my memory.
endquote

To which someone replied
quote
Yikes!! Never soak this stuff in water. It swells and loses its
strength.Curve it dry.
endquote

We don't know what the second party based that on.

Are we all talking about the same product? Maybe like plywood, some is made
with waterproof glue, some not. All I can suggest is try it on a small
piece and see for yourselves.
