Many moons ago Stewart/Nimco made conversions kits for AF engines. I
have a AF Hudson with them--runs like a bat out of you know where!
They sold the drivers and all the other wheels for a reasonable
solution. By today's standards they do come up short however. Also, in
going back to the 60's Branch Line models in Memphis offered to turn
down the drive wheels on your engines, so I see no reason that couldn't
be done in today's world. Many of the older guys in RRing in all scales
have the machine tools to do the work (trade them something for the
work!) I had Branch Line turn down the wheels on a AF PA, install a
Pittman motor on the power truck and I added the Kadee couplers later.
I've sold the engine but it was and still is a viable option if you
wanted to run on smaller rail but keep the AF look.
