Bud,  You have hit the rail on the head!! or whatever.  I use the old 
Miller tie strip with code 126 on most of my mainline and it works quite 
well with the new wheel spacing although some tight curves do cause some 
problems.    I was told that Miller made up some code 100 with a wider 
base to fit the type strip because the regular HO 100 would be too 
sloppy.  I just couldn't find any so I went to Tomalco for my sidings. 
 I recently tore up some 100 and relaid it with code 70 flex from 
Tomalco.  At first the difference was pretty 'scary'.  So far everything 
I've tried runs on it.  Overall Bud is right that if the rail is 
properly weathered anything from 126 on down looks pretty decent and 
from a distance even my code 70 doesn't look any better than anything else!
