That's true. Back when my eyes worked, I could size miniature drills
by eye, but the point I was trying to make is that the difference in
scale height and prototype height where .148 rail is concerned is so
small as to be negligible. To me Code 148 on a display layout is much
better looking and more in proportion than the Code 100 that HO people
use.

As far as different sizes of rail, the prototype uses different rail
heights for different applications, too. That's what "compromise
joints" are all about. Personally, I use Code 100 rail for my Shabbona
RR the appearance is such that I feel no need to use different sizes
in different applications

The advantage of Code 148 rail is that it can be made to accomodate
anything from scale to tinplate wheels, and the appearance of pure AF
rolling stock on 148 track is pure eye candy.
