Walmart is carrying a great 1:64 vehicle that is the right time frame for a lot of us. It is a 1939 Chevy Master Deluxe, a 4-door sedan. It costs less than $4. They come in hanging blister packs under the line of "Homie Rollerz". It is the only older vehicle in that line of toy cars. It also comes with two figures that can be thrown away with the packaging. The model is a low rider so the body must be mounted higher on the axle and new wheels installed. The body casting is very detailed once you remove the paint. I swear they must dip them as it is really thick. I completely dissasembled the vehicle. I stripped the white metal parts using a paint remover then repainted every thing with an airbrush before reassembly. There is a plastic insert for the windows but I think I'll use Micro Scale's Kristal Klear instead on my next conversion. For wheels I used Lonestar Models truck tires (#LS12104). I found a bead in a craft store that fit nicely in the tire as a hub, then some brass rod for the axle. I mounted the axle on the under side of the frame versus the top side. Anyway, one of the better looking vehicles on the layout. Pete Smith To REPLY to the list, use REPLY ALL; to reply to the sender, use REPLY.
