All -- If any of you want a cheap gas-electric, check out the following on eBay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Brass-passenger-car-body_W0QQitemZ6024307940QQcategoryZ16509QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem The seller thinks it's a brass baggage car body, but it's a Dayton gas-electric. Powered kits for this loco, a NYC prototype, were available between 1945 and 1951 (approx.). I can't tell from the poor photo how good the construction job is, but even if it's terrible, soaking in laquer thinner to remove the paint, followed by torching to separate the soldered parts, will produce a nearly-like-new body kit. One could adapt an American Models streamlined roof or a couple of AF baggage-car or NH coach roofs, add appropriate details, a Black Beetle power truck, and any of a variety of truck sideframes (take a look at Q-Car Co. O scale traction truck sideframes). Dick Karnes Yahoo!
