Each diode will reduce the voltage to the motor by about 1-1/4 volts. Three diodes in series with the motor results in a total voltage reduction of nearly 4 volts. Slowing down the loco should help keep it on the track if excessive speed is the only problem you are worrying about. By modifying the loco instead of the throttle, each loco can be individually tailored to a precise maximum speed. Good luck...Ed L. Yahoo!
